Our breath hold courses cater for everyone from beginner snorkeler through to the experienced spearfisher person wishing to learn new skills, improve your breath hold techniques, increase your comfort levels, bottom time and gain further confidence above and below the water. Weekend Intermediate Course ScheduleFriday night: Classroom session (6pm – 9pm)
Location: Ocean Hunter, 100 Gaunt St, Westhaven ph 09 377 0896 Or your hosting club or dive shop. Content: The Human Body in Water: physiological and psychological aspects of breath holding, Safe Diving Practises, Freediving Equipment, Diet & Hydration, Breathing Exercises
Lake or open water (Location to be advised) (1.30pm – 5pm) Pool: Stretching, breathing exercises, pre & post dive breathing, static apnea oxygen table, static apnea training & safety techniques. Pool Equipment: Mask, snorkel, togs, wetsuit 5mm – 7mm, water to drink Lake/Open water: Stretching and breathing preparation, weighting, entry technique, equalisation, deep water techniques performed to your comfort levels concentrating on building up time spent at depth. Lake/Open water Equipment: Mask, snorkel, wetsuit, weight belt, booties & fins
Lake or Open water (Location to be advised) (1.30pm – 4pm) Pool: Preparation techniques (stretching and breathing), warm up statics, max attempt static/s, fining technique, long dynamics, CO2 dynamics, buddy rescue. Pool Equipment: Mask, snorkel, togs, wetsuit 5mm – 7mm, booties & fins, water to drink Lake: Stretching & breathing preparation, diving warm up’s, deeper dives, debrief.
