North Reef Kingfish
I have not long completed the breath hold course at OceanHunter and since then I have been going out as much as I can.
I went out in the weekend 21st of Jan and speared this 22.5KG Kingfish out at the North Reef by the poor knights with my new OceanHunter setup and 1500mm gun
Was a hell of a fight and my second kingfish thanx alot oceanhunter!

Got sick of diving down through the schools of kahawahi and trevelly trying to find kingfish at danger rock so went for a snapper snoop instead in got this 26 pound snapper instead.

Hauraki Gulf Kingfish
Mike, Saturday at Tiri.Callum spent most of his time teaching his girlfriend to dive, she is holding his 8kg fish. Viz 5-7m, getting fishy with no bronzies seen. PB to date of 19.6kg, others where smaller at 8 and 9.6kgs. Big fish in schools of 3 or around 10 fish seen.

First Kingfish
My hubby Steve and son Scott are relatively new to free diving, having taken it up in the last 12 months or so. Up until this last weekend they have mainly caught smaller fish and have always told me they wouldn’t be real spear fishermen until they caught a Kingfish.
After collecting scallops they decided to try a spot they had been told about for kingfish...........they were only in the water for about 20 mins and they had speared number one. A short time after that came number two. The first was 26 pound and the 2nd was 28 pound...........needless to say they were stoked I think their smiles said it all.
