RUKU COMPOSITE BLADES

Ruku composite blades are handmade, developed and tested right here in New Zealand. They aremade to use maximum blade surface area, with the blade flexing only at critical points.
Using research from  muscle stress points, ruku blades are tested using biomechanical machine to fin the blades under extreme force, in excess of 150,000 kicks nonstop.

The loads and stress reproduced are far greater than any diving condition and prove the fin to be extremely long-lasting, powerful, effective and able to withstand such rigorous use, Ruku blades come with a 3 year warranty proving the confidence of the manufacturer.

When selecting your Ruku blade, it is very important to be clear about your intended use: commercial diving; recreational spearfishing; or scuba. Ruku’s are currently being used in all these areas. In addition, and just as importantly, you need to consider your body weight and whether you have any injuries or weaknesses, particularly in the ankles and legs.

Here’s what champion spearfisherman Dwayne Herbert says about Ruku…

“I dive for a living, often six days a week commercially harvesting seafood from all over New Zealand. In my spare time I follow my passion which is spearfishing and underwater filming. I guess you could say I’m in the water a lot. I like to compete on the spearfishing circuit and currently I’ve been NZ champ for five years.
I was given the opportunity to dive with a New Zealand brand of composite blades ‘Ruku’. I’ve tried them all and I guess you get used to what works for you.  I was given some clear instructions - thrash them and see what they can do – so I thought OK this will be fun. I asked should I wear them doing kina and paua and was told to give them heaps.
Well I’ve been doing this and yes I’ve tried to break them and I can’t. They’re easy to use and built to go the distance!”
