HUNTING TECHNIQUES
The hardest thing about hunting golden snapper (‘goldie’s’) is finding them and then being able to dive to any depth, as most spearing of them is past the 25m mark.
Once spotted though they are very easy to spear and most people keep their goldie spot well-guarded. A kill shot is paramount when targeting golden snapper as a snapper thrashing around will send the other goldies deeper, making it more dangerous for the freediver to hunt.
WARNING: Deep diving on weed lines can lead to blackouts and or even death. Before attempting to hunt these fish - one should always seek advice and ensure that he/she has adequate experience.
