Equalising is a real problem for some and SurfEars has come up with a product that might just help help you.
The history about SurfEars
The product was originally designed for surfer's or people that are in the water a lot and suffer from exostoses or want to prevent it from happening. Exotoses is when your inner ear canal closes, this is commonly called surfers ear and the only way to fix it is with surgery or drops, the drops have never been successful so surgery is the only way to fix it.
The version one SurfEars was design to keep the water and wind chill out, version one you can not dive with.
This model is version two, it is designed with a thin waterproof acoustic mesh (membrane) that allows sound and keep water out. The membrane keeping the water out makes it suitable for freediving, spearfishing, scuba diving and surfing and even better you can hear whats happening around you.
Often just water in your ears stops you from equalising and by wearing these you will allow your eardrum to flex more freely.
The product is endorsed by the big name surfers but it has been used by a number of freedivers and spearfisher people around the world. Ear plugs for diving have been around for many years and have been used on some very deep dives. Its not new technology but having the ability to hear and the hydrophobic coating (stops wax blocking it) and a perfect fit as there is different size options included in the one pack are a first.
As the product is so new to our market we will update our comments once we get some practical feed back but we really feel this will help a lot of divers who want to look after there ears or who just have problems equalising.
