A species which if found in tropical waters. With the warmer waters around January to April in the northern parts of the north island we are starting to see them every season. They use floating debris as cover often seaweed or Buoys can hold Mahi Mahi. A common weight for a mahi mahi is 7-13kg with the bigger fish over 18kg harder to find.
Working fads (fish aggregation devices) is a good way to secure a fish. Approach the fad quietly swimming into the current, try not to react and scare the fish and you should be able to get within range.
